Medical Certification

Q        One of my employees has been off sick for some time.  Originally she provided doctor's certificates but I have not received one for two weeks.  Can I stop paying her?

A        We would advise that you write to her or phone her first and ask her to send you an up to date doctor's medical certificate as there may be a valid reason why she has not been in contact with you.  If you still do not receive a certificate, write to her again telling her that until you receive a valid certificate, you are unable to pay her company or statutory sick pay.
