Q Who is classed as a young worker?
A People aged between 16 and 18.
Q What different rights do young workers have compared to adult workers?A You have to take into account their inexperience within the workplace, together with having more stringent working hours under the Working Time Regulations. Young workers are restricted to a 5 day, maximum 40 hour working week, with 2 consecutive days off. They must also have at least 12 hours rest between shifts and are entitled to a break of half an hour for every 4½ hours worked. |
