Q        Who is classed as a young worker?

A        People aged between 16 and 18.

 

Q        What different rights do young workers have compared to adult workers?

A        You have to take into account their inexperience within the workplace, together with having more stringent working hours under the Working Time Regulations.  Young workers are restricted to a 5 day, maximum 40 hour working week, with 2 consecutive days off.  They must also have at least 12 hours rest between shifts and are entitled to a break of half an hour for every 4½ hours worked.
